A boccia friendly tournament

Yongsan-gu District Mayor Kim Kyung-dae attended the Didimdol Boccia Tournament on Tuesday at the Wonhyo-ro multipurpose indoor gymnasium, where he encouraged athletes and officials and engaged with participants.

The event was co-hosted by the Yongsan-gu District Disabled Welfare Center and the Yongsan-gu Disabled Sports Association, drawing about 150 people — including players from eight boccia teams affiliated with disability-related organizations in the district, along with guardians and personal care assistants.

The program opened with a ceremony, congratulatory remarks and a pledge by athlete representatives, followed by a boccia friendly competition in a quarterfinal tournament format.

"It is especially meaningful that the Didimdol Boccia Friendly Tournament is being held in Yongsan at this significant time, when Seoul is hosting the 2026 Seoul World Boccia Championships — an international boccia festival," Kim said. "Going forward, I will continue to show interest and provide support so that people with disabilities can gain health and vitality through sports and take part together in the community."
