A man in his 60s who smashed a stranger's imported car with a blunt object after losing money at a gambling game has been arrested.
Incheon's Michuhol Police Station arrested the man, identified only as A, on charges of aggravated property destruction and is investigating the case, Yonhap reported Tuesday.
A is accused of striking a parked imported vehicle belonging to a man in his 50s, identified as B, multiple times with a blunt object Monday around 9 p.m. on a street in Sungui-dong, Michuhol-gu, Incheon.
A had been drinking at the time. Investigators believe he carried out the attack in a fit of rage after losing money at a nearby gambling arcade, targeting B's vehicle despite having no prior acquaintance with him.
A passerby who witnessed the incident called 112, and responding officers arrested A at the scene.
"A was intoxicated, so we have not yet been able to question him," a police official said. "We will determine whether to seek an arrest warrant after investigating the exact circumstances of the crime and any other possible offenses."
