"Spider-Man: Brand New Day" has surpassed 8.02 million cumulative admissions, setting a new box office record for the Tom Holland Spider-Man series.

According to the Korean Film Council's integrated ticketing system, "Spider-Man: Brand New Day" crossed the 8.02 million mark Sunday, 26 days after opening, surpassing "Spider-Man: Far From Home" as the top-grossing entry in the "Tom-Spa" series — the nickname for films featuring Holland as Spider-Man. The film reached the 8 million milestone nine days faster than "Far From Home" did.

"Spider-Man: Brand New Day" is an action blockbuster in which Peter Parker, forgotten by everyone following the events of "Spider-Man: No Way Home," faces a mysterious new enemy who remembers his true identity. Amid the chaos, a DNA mutation grants him uncontrollable powers, and he must confront the new threat to protect those he holds dear.

Director Christopher Nolan's "Odyssey" is also showing no signs of slowing down. The film crossed 7 million cumulative admissions around 1 p.m. Sunday — adding 1 million admissions in just two days after surpassing 6 million on Friday.

"Odyssey" reached the 7 million mark at the same pace as "Spider-Man: Brand New Day," which set this year's record for the fastest film to hit that milestone, and also matches the trajectory of Nolan's "Interstellar."

The film's momentum shows no sign of fading. "Odyssey" holds the top spot in advance ticket sales with a 71 percent share and recorded a seat occupancy rate of 60.0 percent over its second weekend in release, ranking first overall. Advance bookings for its third week in theaters still exceed 750,000 tickets.

The film is also performing strongly on the global stage. "Odyssey" has surpassed $1.34 billion in worldwide box office revenue, overtaking "Deadpool & Wolverine" ($1.33 billion) to become the highest-grossing R-rated film of all time.

"Odyssey" is a blockbuster based on Homer's ancient epic "The Odyssey." The film follows Odysseus, who led the Greeks to victory in the Trojan War, on his decade-long journey home to Ithaca as he overcomes trials set by the gods.
