A video of a man repeatedly dipping a half-eaten fish cake skewer back into a shared broth pot at a traditional market in Daegu has sparked outrage online.

The footage aired Wednesday on JTBC's "Sageon Banjang," a TV news magazine program, and was filmed at Seomun Market in Daegu.

The person who submitted the video said they visited a fish cake stall they frequented around 1 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 15, and witnessed a middle-aged man eating from a skewer and then reinserting it into the communal broth pot.

In the footage, the man takes several bites of fish cake before dipping the skewer back into the broth — a pattern he repeats multiple times.

The tipster said they personally witnessed the behavior at least five or six times.

They said they considered alerting the stall owner but held back, worried a confrontation might break out in front of their child, and quietly left. "I got goosebumps watching that and completely lost my appetite," they said. "I think I'll just cook at home as much as possible."

Online commenters reacted with disgust. "How could you just let that slide without saying anything?" one wrote. Others added: "Basic hygiene is the minimum — think about other people" and "He'll probably do the exact same thing next time."
