Korea Aerospace Industries is joining forces with the Institute for National Security Strategy to sharpen its competitiveness in global defense markets and expand exports.

KAI announced Friday that it signed an MOU on global security environment analysis and defense policy cooperation with the institute on Thursday. KAI President and CEO Kim Jong-chul and institute President Kim Sung-bae attended the signing ceremony.

The agreement combines KAI's expertise in aerospace and defense with the institute's security and policy research capabilities, strengthening both organizations' ability to analyze the global security and defense environment and bolstering KAI's export competitiveness.

Under the MOU, the two organizations will jointly analyze global security and export conditions, conduct research on defense regulatory reform and policy, exchange academic and policy insights on defense matters, and co-host seminars and forums.

The institute will assess how shifts in the international landscape affect South Korea's defense industry and examine the policy and diplomatic environments of potential export markets. KAI plans to use those findings to sharpen its technological edge and shape its overseas expansion strategy.

The two organizations will also track security and technology trends through joint research with domestic and international research institutions and policy experts, and plan to co-host policy dialogues and seminars with major overseas think tanks.

"In a rapidly changing international defense market, we will secure accurate information through cooperation with specialized institutions and build the policy and regulatory foundation that underpins our exports and technology development," Kim Jong-chul said. "We will strengthen our capacity to respond proactively to the global security environment."

Kim Sung-bae said the institute would "build an effective cooperation model by linking the security and policy research capabilities we have accumulated with KAI's hands-on experience in the aerospace industry."
