HD Hyundai Electric will unveil its eco-friendly power technology at the world's largest electricity grid expo as it pushes to expand its presence in the European market.
The company said it will participate in the CIGRE Paris Session 2026, held at the Palais des Congrès de Paris in France from Aug. 23 to Aug. 28.
The event, which began in 1921 and has run for more than a century, is a biennial international gathering in the power systems field. It brings together power utilities, transmission system operators, electrical equipment manufacturers and technical experts from around the world to share the latest industry developments and discuss the future direction of power grid technology.
The 2024 edition drew more than 11,200 participants from 99 countries.
The EU has recently tightened regulations on fluorinated greenhouse gases, moving to phase out high global-warming-potential gases such as sulfur hexafluoride (SF₆), which is used in ultra-high-voltage circuit breakers.
In response to these market shifts, HD Hyundai Electric will display its 72.5-kilovolt (kV) and 145kV eco-friendly gas-insulated switchgear (GIS) units, along with the 420kV eco-friendly GIS model "GREENTRIC 550SRE," which recently completed testing. Developed domestically for the first time, the product is an SF₆-free GIS model covering the core voltage range applied to more than half of Europe's major power grids.
Meanwhile, on Tuesday evening during the exhibition, HD Hyundai Electric will host a riverboat networking event on the Seine River for major European power companies and customers. Under the theme "Navigating the Future of Energy," the event will focus on sharing the company's vision for the green energy transition and the future of power grids, while exploring opportunities for cooperation.
"We will actively respond to demand for eco-friendly transition in European power grids, drawing on our diverse portfolio of green power equipment, and continue to strengthen our competitiveness in the global market," a company official said.
