Officials seize a vehicle license plate as part of a tax enforcement operation.

Dobong-gu's tax enforcement unit has begun immediately immobilizing vehicles whose owners attempt to evade license plate seizures, deploying wheel clamps as a direct countermeasure, the Seoul district announced Friday.

During a survey of vehicle tax delinquents, enforcement officers discovered cars whose owners had fastened license plates with screws and adhesive to prevent seizure.

The district applied forcible enforcement measures to those vehicles, including wheel clamps and other immobilization devices, under relevant regulations.

The district said it is determined to track down and collect from anyone who deliberately uses such tactics to dodge tax enforcement.

Dobong-gu plans to continue strengthening enforcement against habitual and chronic tax delinquents, with the tax enforcement unit deploying every tool permitted under the law.

"We will respond firmly to any deliberate attempt to evade tax enforcement or obstruct license plate seizures," a district official said. "We will do our utmost to manage delinquencies and establish a sound tax-compliance culture in which honest taxpayers are respected."
