Seoul's Seongdong-gu will run its "2026 Pet Culture Lecture" series in September, offering residents who live with companion animals practical, real-life care information.
The three-session series covers emergency first aid, smartphone pet photography and home grooming — each led by a specialist in the field. Sessions will be held Sept. 9, Sept. 17 and Sept. 30 in the small conference room on the 10th floor of the Seongdong-gu district office.
The first session, on Sept. 9, focuses on emergency response under the theme "Protecting Lives." Veterinarian Song Min-hyeok of Beige Animal Hospital will teach pet owners how to quickly recognize an emergency, respond in the critical early moments and handle a range of urgent situations.
The second session, on Sept. 17, turns to photography. Professional photographer Yun Seok-gu will share smartphone techniques for capturing natural expressions and lively movement in pets, helping owners take more vivid and memorable photos.
The final session, on Sept. 30, covers home grooming with instructor Kim Gye-hyeong, a pet grooming specialist. The class will walk participants through basic care routines — brushing, nail trimming, eye and ear cleaning, and proper bathing — along with safety tips for each step.
Each session runs 90 minutes, from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., and is open to 40 participants on a first-come, first-served basis. The series welcomes anyone interested in pet care, not just Seongdong-gu residents, and participants may register for more than one session.

Seongdong-gu District Mayor Yoo Bo-hwa said companion animals have become cherished members of daily life, making it important to build a culture of informed, responsible pet ownership. "We will continue to roll out a range of policies for a happy life with companion animals, and work toward making Seongdong a place where people and animals coexist in harmony — a community where everyone wants to live for life," she said.
