Police are investigating after bullets and a magazine were found at a five-star hotel in Jamsil-dong, Songpa-gu, Seoul.

The Songpa Police Station said it received a report Monday at around 3:30 p.m. that a magazine and bullets had been discovered in the trash area of a five-star hotel in Jamsil-dong, Songpa-gu, and has launched an investigation.

Officers found one magazine approximately 3 centimeters wide and three 9-millimeter bullets at the scene.

Police plan to determine whether the rounds are live ammunition and to investigate the circumstances under which the magazine and bullets were discarded.

Private firearm ownership is banned in South Korea except in limited cases where a license has been granted.
