Seoul's city center will take on the colors of Yeongyang-gun for three days later this month.

The 2026 Yeongyang Chili Pepper H.O.T Festival will run Aug. 27-29 at Seoul Plaza, Yeongyang-gun said Sunday. The event will bring together the county's prized chili peppers and other agricultural specialties alongside local culture, tourism and traditional food.

Visitors will be able to buy Yeongyang chili peppers, chili powder and a range of other farm products directly from producers on site.

Selected farming households, local agricultural cooperatives and processing companies will participate, delivering farm-fresh quality at reasonable prices.

Beyond the agricultural sales area, the festival will feature dedicated spaces showcasing the county's many attractions.

A promotional pavilion will introduce "Eumsik Dimibang," the first hangul cookbook of the Joseon era, while separate booths will highlight local tourism resources and cultural content.

At the center of the venue, a themed space built around Yeongyang chili peppers will anchor the festival atmosphere, complemented by hands-on programs and events open to all visitors.

Yeongyang-gun said it is making thorough preparations so that Seoul residents who visit the plaza will come away with a lasting impression of the county and a desire to visit.

"The Yeongyang Chili Pepper H.O.T Festival is the county's signature event, showcasing not only our outstanding agricultural products but also our culture and tourism," county chief Oh Do-chang said. "We will make sure the program is packed with things to see and do so that Seoul residents can experience the full charm of Yeongyang for themselves."
