An exhibition bringing Seoul's past streets and alleyways to life through painting opens at Seoul City Hall.

The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced Tuesday that painter Jang Eun-woo's exhibition "Traces of Seoul" will run through Nov. 2 at the Sky Plaza Gallery on the eighth floor of City Hall's main building.

The show is the second of three exhibitions selected through an open call for the Sky Plaza Gallery, and features works that illuminate Seoul's scenery through a fresh perspective.

Jang works in a distinctive technique of cutting and layering hanji — traditional Korean paper — and has received the Danwon Art Festival's selected artist award, been named a featured artist by the Eland Cultural Foundation, and won the IBK selected artist excellence award.

During the exhibition run, Jang will lead a hands-on program, "Making Your Own Fabric Screen with a Personal Landscape," on Oct. 14 and Oct. 21.

Kwak Jong-bin, head of the Seoul Metropolitan Government's administrative bureau, said the exhibition "invites visitors to look back on the everyday scenes and memories that remain with us."
