Four engineering departments at Inha University have received the highest rating in an external accreditation review of the university's engineering education quality management system.
Inha University announced Thursday that its departments of architectural engineering, materials science and engineering, chemical engineering, and environmental engineering all earned the top rating in the 2026 Engineering Education Accreditation Assessment conducted by the Accreditation Board for Engineering Education of Korea.
The assessment, carried out April 6 and 7, comprehensively examined the educational structure and operational standards of each engineering program.
Evaluators assessed eight categories under the engineering education accreditation criteria, including program educational objectives and learning outcomes.
All four departments secured accreditation for six years, with their engineering education accreditation valid through Feb. 28, 2033.
The review panel particularly commended Inha University's Engineering Education Innovation Center and the individual departments for their systematic operation of the accreditation programs.
Student-centered curriculum management, ongoing efforts to improve course offerings, and a structured quality management system were also cited as key strengths.
Engineering education accreditation evaluates whether a university's engineering programs meet the educational standards required by industry and society.
Because it assesses not only curriculum content but the entire quality management framework — from setting educational objectives to managing learning outcomes and driving continuous improvement — it serves as a key indicator of competitiveness in engineering education.
Inha University said it plans to use the results as an opportunity to press ahead with ongoing improvements to its engineering education in response to changes in industry.
The university said it will consistently refine its curriculum and support systems so that students can develop not only specialized knowledge but also the competencies demanded by future industries.
"Earning the top rating is the result of sustained efforts by the Engineering Education Innovation Center and the departments running each program to raise the quality of education," said Pyeon Seok-jun, director of Inha University's Engineering Education Innovation Center. "We will continue to improve the curriculum and drive innovation in engineering education so that students can grow into the core engineering talent who will lead future industries."
