Surveillance footage has emerged showing a man stealing food ingredients delivered to a kimbap restaurant, his face concealed behind a cardboard box.

The store's CCTV footage was shared by the restaurant owner, identified only as A, on JTBC's crime news program "Sageon Banjang," a crime-reporting show. A operates the kimbap store in Ansan, Gyeonggi Province.

The footage shows a man approaching the store in the early hours of July 7. He tore open a liquor box and held it over his face, glanced around, then grabbed two trays of eggs left outside the store and fled.

At one point the box slipped from his face, but the man quickly readjusted it, kicked the box aside and walked away.

Eight days later, in the early hours of July 15, the man returned. This time he pulled his collar up to cover his face. He approached the store and stole a delivery bag containing six packs of dried seaweed — 100 sheets per pack, 600 sheets in total — before fleeing.

In both incidents, CCTV cameras captured the man taking pains to keep his face hidden throughout.

A reported the man to police, who told her he had a prior record of multiple theft convictions resulting in fines. Police also indicated that reaching a settlement could be difficult because the man lacked the means to pay restitution.

A said she was concerned the man had been seen casually walking around the area even after the thefts, raising the possibility of further incidents.
