Posco Wide is extending its office furniture and equipment recycling program to the military, partnering with Armed Forces Daejeon Hospital to spread a culture of reuse not only within the hospital but also to nearby military units — and to improve the living and working environment for service members.

The company signed an MOU for a "resource-recycling partnership" with Armed Forces Daejeon Hospital on Monday at its headquarters in Taepyeongno Building in Jung-gu, Seoul. Posco Wide CEO Kim Won-hee and Armed Forces Daejeon Hospital Commander Lee Guk-jong attended the signing ceremony.

The agreement expands the reach of Posco Wide's office furniture recycling project, known as Jawondaitda, to military facilities. Armed Forces Daejeon Hospital will receive office furniture and equipment through the program and will also serve as a hub for promoting resource-recycling activities to nearby military units.

Jawondaitda collects reusable furniture and equipment generated through Posco Wide's real estate management operations — rather than discarding them — and donates the items to social welfare facilities and local communities. The project is run in partnership with the Posco 1% Sharing Foundation, using funds raised through a program in which employees donate 1 percent of their salaries.

Since the project launched, thousands of pieces of furniture and equipment have been donated. The new agreement goes a step further than simple goods donations, focusing on spreading a resource-recycling culture within the military.

The two sides will jointly run campaigns to raise awareness of resource reuse and carbon reduction within the military. They also agreed to explore sharing data gathered through resource-recycling activities and jointly managing ESG-related performance metrics.

"As a member of the Posco Group, Posco Wide will take the lead in ensuring that the values of corporate social responsibility and ESG take root throughout our society," Kim said. "It is deeply meaningful that the worthy purpose of our resource-recycling initiative can be conveyed to our service members while also providing them with a more comfortable environment."

Since establishing the Posco 1% Sharing Foundation in 2013, the Posco Group has continued its social contribution work, including providing advanced assistive devices for veterans and running programs for local communities and future generations.
