Goryeong-gun in North Gyeongsang Province has submitted a second supplementary budget for 2026 to the county assembly, the local government announced Sunday. The revised budget totals 518.2 billion won ($375 million), up 29.2 billion won, or 5.97 percent, from the original.

Key spending items include 970 million won for local gift certificate discount subsidies, 1 billion won in fuel subsidies for the transportation sector, 1.8 billion won for natural disaster risk improvement zone maintenance, 600 million won for an AI deep learning-based intelligent disaster safety and control network upgrade, 900 million won for veterans and memorial facility expansion, and 200 million won for construction of a Vietnam War veterans monument.

The budget also allocates 560 million won for installation of a hi-pass interchange on the Goryeong Daegaya expressway, 600 million won for a public parking lot on Deokgyeonggil, 300 million won for a public parking lot in Sanggok 4-ri, and 500 million won as a contribution to the Goryeong County Talent Development Foundation.

"This second supplementary budget prioritizes the livelihoods of residents struggling with high energy prices and inflation, while strengthening our capacity to respond to various disasters and emergencies to ensure public safety," county chief Lee Nam-cheol said.
