Damyang-gun's mobile dementia prevention program has drawn strong interest since it began visiting local senior centers in February to help elderly residents maintain cognitive health.
The program was designed to ensure that seniors who have difficulty visiting a dementia care center or accessing medical and health services can still take part in dementia prevention activities close to where they live. It focuses on supporting cognitive function and helping participants maintain a healthy daily routine.
Running through November, the outreach program targets senior centers in 11 towns and townships across the county where transportation is limited, offering eight sessions per location.
Each session features a range of activities tailored to engage older participants — including cognitive stimulation exercises, physical activity and emotional support programs. Community-based activities also aim to ease feelings of depression and reduce social isolation among attendees.
