GS Shop announced Thursday that sales at its fashion, beauty and food specialty stores rose 50% quarter-on-quarter in the second quarter of this year (April–June).

GS Shop launched its fashion specialty store, Fashion Now, in August last year, then added the beauty store Beauty# and the food store Tasty Discovery in November, completing a three-store lineup. Cumulative unique visitors across the three stores — excluding duplicates — grew 136%, from 1.1 million in November last year to 2.6 million as of July.

The company attributes the growth to curation expertise built up through its TV home shopping operations, which it has applied to the mobile specialty stores. The food store's conversion rate runs as high as four times the platform-wide average for food products.

GS Shop is also deploying AI technology. A standout feature is the "Top-Reviewed Products" section in Beauty# and Tasty Discovery, which uses AI to condense thousands of customer reviews for popular items into a single line.

The company said it aims to strengthen product curation and personalized recommendations to establish itself as the go-to commerce destination for the lifestyle needs of women in their 40s and 60s. "We will work to become the first mobile shopping destination people turn to when they want to discover products or trends in fashion, beauty and food," said Kim Eun-ju, head of GS Shop's sales marketing team.
