LG Electronics said Monday it has supplied commercial washers and dryers to 630 stores run by Trendy Wash, Thailand's second-largest laundromat franchise. The company also plans to supply more than 400 additional stores the chain is opening this year.
LG Electronics is accelerating its B2B business in Southeast Asia, where demand for commercial laundry appliances has grown steadily on the back of hot, humid climates and rapid urbanization.
The company recently opened a smart laundry store called Bee Laundry in Hanoi, Vietnam, in partnership with local firm WW Vietnam. The store serves retail customers while also functioning as a reference site where prospective partners and investors can experience LG Electronics products and store-management solutions firsthand.
In the Philippines, LG Electronics is deepening ties with major commercial laundry retail channels — including ELS, Big Wash and Express Clean — to strengthen its local foothold. The company is also expanding across Southeast Asia more broadly, including in Vietnam, Cambodia, Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia.
As a result, LG Electronics' Southeast Asia commercial laundry appliance sales last year rose about 60 percent from the year before. By country, sales in Thailand more than doubled while sales in the Philippines grew more than 1.5 times.
LG Electronics equips its commercial washers with differentiated core component technology, including the world's first mass-produced Inverter DD (Direct Drive) motor. The Inverter DD motor connects the drum directly to the motor, reducing vibration and noise while improving durability and energy efficiency.
Store-management solutions are another strength. LG Electronics offers LaundryCrew, a platform for managing commercial laundry operations. Operators can use it to monitor multiple washers and dryers in real time and control them remotely, reducing the management burden by enabling quick responses when problems arise.
LG Electronics is also expanding its commercial laundry appliance business in Europe and North America. Last month it launched LG Professional — a commercial laundry lineup for machines of 20 kilograms or more — in the European market. It has also significantly increased this year's supply volume to CSC ServiceWorks, the top laundry solutions company in North America.
"We will lead the global commercial laundry market by leveraging industry-leading technology and proven management solutions," said Lim Ki-yong, head of LG Electronics' HS B2B overseas sales.
