Chilgok-gun in North Gyeongsang Province has launched a full medical gap-response system in preparation for the closure of the emergency room at Waegwan Hospital.

The county said Monday it is operating weekday evening and weekend and holiday medical services centered on the Gisan-myeon community health center.

The county has also introduced a 119-linked patient transfer system and a 365-day late-night pharmacy service. It plans to designate the Chilgok-gun public health center as an on-call medical facility, staffed by two public health doctors and one contract physician.

At the Gisan-myeon community health center, residents 65 and older receive free medical and prescription services. Those under 65 pay just 900 won for a four-day prescription, covering both consultation and medication costs.

"We are running evening and holiday medical services centered on the Gisan-myeon community health center so that residents do not feel the impact of the emergency room closure," a Chilgok-gun public health center official said. "We will continue to prepare operations without disruption, monitor on-site conditions closely, and swiftly address any shortcomings."
