Yeongcheon city in North Gyeongsang Province is accepting nominations for its 2026 Pride of the City award through Aug. 20, the city announced Monday.
This year's award will recognize three recipients — one each in the categories of industry and economy, culture, education and sports, and community service.
Eligible nominees must have been registered residents of Yeongcheon for at least five years as of the nomination date and must have made notable contributions to the local community.
Nominations may be submitted by heads of eup, myeon or dong administrative units, or by heads of city-level institutions and organizations operating within Yeongcheon. Current local council members, civil servants, those with outstanding local tax liabilities — including non-tax revenue arrears — and individuals who have caused public controversy are ineligible.
Final recipients will be selected through a public vetting and review process, with the award ceremony scheduled for October.
