Daegu is moving to develop a new city brand slogan.
The city has used "Colorful Daegu" as its slogan since 2004, but switched to "Powerful Daegu" in 2022 following the inauguration of then-Mayor Hong Joon-pyo.
With the launch of the ninth directly elected city administration, Daegu plans to designate a new brand slogan, with both "Colorful Daegu" and "Powerful Daegu" remaining under consideration.
The city will first form a city brand committee, which is set to hold its inaugural meeting Friday to discuss the direction of slogan development and an action plan.
The committee, composed of experts in design, public relations and media, will review candidate slogans, examine the results of a public preference survey, and select a final slogan.
"The brand slogan of Daegu will go beyond a simple phrase to become a representative brand that embodies the city's future vision and values," Mayor Choo Kyung-ho said. "We will fully reflect the diverse opinions of citizens and experts and, through a transparent process, create a brand slogan that residents can relate to and take pride in."
