Airline recognized for boosting regional tourism

T'way Air said Monday it operates more international routes departing Jeju than any other South Korean carrier, as it continues to expand its international network out of Jeju Island.

The airline currently operates a range of scheduled services through Jeju International Airport, including domestic routes to Gimpo, Daegu, Cheongju and Gwangju, as well as international routes to Fukuoka, Osaka, Singapore, Taipei and Kaohsiung. It also operates charter international flights to meet seasonal travel demand.

Load factors on international routes through Jeju International Airport in the first half of this year were 91 percent for Fukuoka, 93 percent for Osaka (Kansai), 83 percent for Singapore, 92 percent for Taipei (Taoyuan) and 91 percent for Kaohsiung, bringing the overall average to about 90 percent.

The passenger composition on Taiwan-bound routes is particularly notable: about 80 percent of travelers on the Jeju-Taipei (Taoyuan) route and about 90 percent on the Jeju-Kaohsiung route were Taiwanese nationals, reflecting the airline's contribution to drawing foreign tourists to Jeju.

In recognition of these efforts, T'way Air CEO Lee Sang-yun received a letter of appreciation from the Jeju governor late last year. The award acknowledged the airline's consistent expansion of its international network from Jeju, which has improved residents' access to overseas destinations and helped attract more foreign tourists to the island, contributing to the local economy.

T'way Air currently operates five domestic and 58 international routes. In the second half of the year, the airline plans to expand its network through the continued introduction of A330-900NEO wide-body aircraft and Boeing 737-8 jets, aiming to operate the largest fleet and route network among South Korean low-cost carriers.

"We are maintaining stable Jeju-departure services to support the mobility of Jeju residents and promote regional tourism," a T'way Air official said. "We will continue to strive to be an airline that grows with safety as our top priority."

Meanwhile, T'way Air has been carrying out a range of corporate social responsibility activities. Most recently, it donated proceeds from an in-house ESG recycling bazaar held as part of its "2026 Safety Campaign" in April to Save the Children's play support program for children with disabilities.
