K-pop girl group NMIXX has been spotted meeting Princess Anne, sister of King Charles III, during her visit to South Korea. The group serves as ambassador for a British Embassy campaign.
British Ambassador to South Korea Colin Crooks posted on his SNS Wednesday that "the Princess is in Seoul," noting that on Tuesday Princess Anne met President Lee Jae-myung and NMIXX, among others. He accompanied the post with a photo showing Princess Anne in conversation with the group.
Princess Anne attended a Korea-UK friendship reception held Tuesday at the Four Seasons Hotel in Jongno-gu, Seoul, where she met figures from across industry — including the defense sector — as well as academia, culture and politics.
NMIXX serves as ambassador for the British Embassy's women's empowerment campaign Girls Can Dream, Girls Can Achieve.
The embassy held an appointment ceremony last month at its compound in Jeong-dong, Seoul, where Seema Malhotra, UK Minister of State at the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, presented the group with their official credentials.
During a conversation with Malhotra that followed, NMIXX member Lily said, "It's OK if you don't have all the answers right now," adding, "If you truly believe in yourself, I believe you can achieve anything."
Responding to a question about what she would say to a girl who feels anxious about her future, she said: "Don't try to carry the weight alone — lean on the people around you and ask for help. That alone can give you real strength."
She added, "Always remember that you are someone who can achieve anything."
Meanwhile, Princess Anne said at the reception that she is "deeply impressed every time I visit Korea and see how brilliantly it has developed," adding that "the relationship between the United Kingdom and Korea will only grow stronger."
"Every time I visit Korea, my own knowledge grows, and you are all helping to make that possible," she said. "My visits to Korea go back a very long way — but, goodness, how much this country has changed. It is fascinating to witness."
