A Mercedes-Benz sedan plowed into a sidewalk near Jeongja Station in Bundang-gu, Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province, on Tuesday, killing one person and injuring two others.

According to police and fire authorities, a woman in her 50s, identified only by her surname A, was driving the Mercedes along a road near Jeongja Station on the Suin-Bundang Line when she rear-ended a community bus at around 6:50 a.m. and veered onto the sidewalk.

A man in his 30s who was walking on the sidewalk was rushed to a hospital in cardiac arrest but died.

The driver and a teenage passenger were also injured and taken to a nearby hospital. Their conditions are not believed to be life-threatening.

Authorities determined the driver was not under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Police are investigating the circumstances of the accident.
