President Lee Jae Myung will attend a citizen reception marking the launch of the "Light Committee" on Constitution Day, Thursday.

Cheong Wa Dae said Monday that Lee will join the event, to be held at the presidential compound, where he and citizens who took part in the "Revolution of Light" will watch "Ran 12·3," a documentary directed by Lee Myung-se about the events surrounding the Dec. 3 emergency martial law declaration.

The event was organized under the slogan "Solidarity of Light — Connecting Hope, Opening the Future" to mark the formal launch of the presidential Light Committee.

The Light Committee is a presidential advisory body established in March to commemorate and carry forward the Revolution of Light — the civic resistance against the Dec. 3 insurrection. It is tasked with collecting, preserving and researching related historical materials, and plans to designate an official anniversary of the Revolution of Light and install commemorative symbols.

President Lee, first lady Kim Hye-kyung, Cheong Wa Dae officials and Light Committee members — including Chairwoman Park Mi-kyung — will attend the event.

Minister of Interior and Safety Yun Ho-jung, Deputy Prime Minister Koo Yun-cheol, who also serves as minister of economy and finance, and Deputy Prime Minister Bae Gyeong-hun, who concurrently heads the Ministry of Science and ICT, will also attend as government members of the Light Committee. Citizens who participated in the Revolution of Light and representatives of civic organizations have also been invited, bringing total expected attendance to about 100.

The program will open with a national ceremony, followed by the presentation of appointment certificates to committee members, letters of appreciation to citizen representatives and opening remarks by President Lee. The group will then screen "Ran 12·3," which covers the events before and after the emergency martial law declaration. After the screening, Cheong Wa Dae said, time will be set aside for citizens who were present at the scene to share their personal accounts.
