Suwon city announced Sunday that it had conducted on-site monitoring of five seafood suppliers participating in its school meal seafood supplier recommendation program, with inspections completed through Thursday.

Seven school officials took part, including staff from the seafood supplier recommendation program and nutrition teachers from schools across the city. The group visited the facilities of five companies — Gukje Ocean Fisheries Co., Namyang Seafood Co., the National Federation of Fisheries Cooperatives, Taejin Fisheries Co. and Hayang F&S Co.

School officials said the suppliers managed all stages of seafood handling — from initial preparation through packaging, storage and dispatch — in a hygienic manner, and were thorough in maintaining freshness through facility cleanliness and temperature control. They also gave positive assessments of the quality of the seafood supplied.
