Seoul's Yeongdeungpo-gu announced Monday it is recruiting trainees for two certification programs — an electrical technician course and a confectionery and baking technician course — tailored for middle-aged job seekers. Applicants must be Yeongdeungpo-gu residents between the ages of 40 and 65.

The electrical technician training program is accepting 20 trainees through July 24. Classes run from Aug. 3 to Oct. 30 at Sudo Vocational School, covering both written and practical exam preparation through a 43-session, 170-hour curriculum of theory and hands-on practice. The confectionery and baking technician certification course is accepting 20 trainees through July 31. That program runs from Aug. 3 to Sept. 30 at the Korea Confectionery Vocational School, with 160 hours of theory and practical instruction.

The district also operates a national certification exam fee support program open to job seekers of all ages. It covers 90 percent of exam fees, up to 100,000 won ($66) per person, with no limit on the number of applications.
