Free admission through Aug. 16 — large water slides, survival swimming education among offerings
Daejeon's signature outdoor summer water facility is set to open its doors to residents.
The city of Daejeon announced Monday that it will operate the Hanbat Arboretum children's water playground free of charge from July 23 through Aug. 16 — a total of 22 days.
The facility will be open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and will close every Monday for equipment inspections, water changes and water-quality management to maintain a safe and comfortable environment.
The Expo Citizens' Plaza site will feature large water slides, pools and a range of other water attractions. Beyond the rides, the facility will offer family-friendly recreation programs and survival swimming education, making it a destination for children and families alike. Rest areas, restrooms, changing rooms and shower facilities will also be available for visiting families.
Safety will be a priority. About 35 professional lifeguards will be on duty at all times to prevent accidents, and ride-type attractions such as slides will be restricted to children 13 and under.
Park Young-cheol, director of Daejeon's Green Space and Agricultural Life Bureau, said he hopes the playground will become the city's go-to spot for a cool summer escape in the heart of the city. "We will spare no effort on safety and water-quality management so that residents can use the facility with peace of mind," he said.
The facility will operate on a reservation-only basis. Bookings open every Monday at 11 a.m. starting July 20, through the dedicated website.
