KT Corp has launched a cloud-based AI email security service aimed at public institutions and educational bodies, marking its formal push into the government and education cybersecurity market.

The company said Monday it is releasing the service after obtaining the Cloud Security Assurance Program (CSAP) certification from the Korea Internet & Security Agency.

The service uses AI technology to detect and block cyber threats delivered via email, including ransomware and phishing attacks. It employs a three-stage filtering system — spam blocking, AI analysis and advanced persistent threat (APT) response — to identify and neutralize malicious messages.

KT Corp said its primary target customers are public institutions such as state-owned enterprises and national educational bodies including national universities. The cloud-based service eliminates the need for large-scale infrastructure investment, making it well-suited to support digital transformation and security upgrades at public educational institutions, the company said.

The service supports up to three APT analysis engines that can be selectively applied, KT Corp said. Continuous AI learning and ongoing security enhancements keep malicious email detection accuracy above 97 percent. Most analyses are completed within one minute, minimizing delays in email delivery.

CSAP is South Korea's primary security certification required to provide cloud services to public institutions. KT Corp said its service is the first email security product combining AI and APT technologies to receive CSAP certification in the country.

The company said the launch enables public institutions to access an AI-based email security service whose safety and reliability have been officially verified. National educational institutions subject to strict security regulations — such as national universities — can now adopt a more secure email infrastructure, it added.

KT Corp also offers a "One-View" feature designed to improve the efficiency of security administrators. The function consolidates on a single screen the detection basis, incident history and risk level of malicious activity identified through AI analysis and various threat-detection technologies.

KT Corp said it plans to continue advancing its technology and strengthening its security capabilities to support digital security at public educational institutions.

"As cyberattacks via email have grown increasingly sophisticated, proactive measures to protect information held by public institutions are essential," said Jeon Myeong-jun, head of KT Corp's enterprise service division. "We will provide a security environment optimized for public educational institutions through our AI-based email security service, the first of its kind to receive CSAP certification in Korea."
