LG Electronics has teamed up with GS Engineering & Construction to jointly develop next-generation AI homes, accelerating its push into the business-to-business AI home solution market.

The two companies signed an MOU for the joint development of next-generation AI homes on Friday at the Gran Seoul building in Jongno-gu, Seoul, in a ceremony attended by LG Electronics CEO Ryu Jae-cheol and GS Engineering & Construction CEO Heo Yun-hong, along with other senior executives from both sides.

Under the agreement, LG Electronics plans to build an advanced AI home by integrating its AI home hub ThinQ ON with home appliances, Internet of Things devices and various services, then linking that ecosystem with the complex infrastructure of GS Engineering & Construction's residential brand Xi.

The core aim is to make daily life more convenient for residents by connecting individual unit controls — lighting, heating, ventilation, outlets and gas valves — alongside complex-wide functions such as elevator calls, parking location checks, visitor history and community facility reservations, all through a single system.

AI will also engage in natural conversation with users, learn their lifestyle context, and suggest or automatically execute functions tailored to each person's habits, delivering a hyper-personalized living experience.

The new agreement builds on an MOU the two companies signed in April to develop a residential robot service model for the future.

Under that earlier deal, the companies agreed to establish design standards for robot-friendly apartments and jointly develop robot service scenarios for residential spaces. They are also working to deploy in-complex services using the home robot LG CLOiD and autonomous driving-based serving and delivery robots. The latest agreement adds AI home solutions to that framework, with the goal of creating a more advanced living experience in which AI, robots and physical space are seamlessly connected.

LG Electronics has been building a distinctive competitive edge in the B2B market by offering both the high-quality built-in appliances construction companies demand and comprehensive AI home solutions. The company plans to continue expanding its partnerships with construction companies beyond appliance supply, combining robots, platforms and services into integrated AI home solutions.
