An old video of a shaman predicting the breakup of singer IU and actor Lee Jong-suk has gone viral, amid news that the couple ended their four-year relationship. The clip has drawn attention for its claim that the two were better suited as friends than lovers, and that IU would likely marry at 37.

In April, a shaman known as "Cheongsang Seonnyeo" posted a video to her YouTube channel titled "IU and Lee Jong-suk breakup? A shaman's shocking revelation that their four-year romance is over (pilgrimage premonition)."

In the video, the shaman said she conducted a blind reading using only the couple's birth dates, with no other information, and immediately concluded: "The connection between these two has been severed."

She added that the split had already happened some time ago. "It looks like they broke up long ago — about two to two and a half years back," she said, going on to describe the woman as loyal and straightforward. "She's the strong, capable type — open and warm, someone who tries to get along with everyone and has no rough edges. Having grown up in a difficult environment, she also has a tough side."

Of the man, she said he "tends to be sensitive" and that while he was naturally cheerful, he had grown calmer with age — and that the two personalities were simply incompatible.

"The man was very much in love with the woman at first and appears to have put in a great deal of effort," the shaman said. "She was moved by that effort and opened her heart, and things went well for a year or two — but ultimately the difference in their natures surfaced. Their romantic connection was always short. Even the roughly two years they dated was thanks to the woman's sense of loyalty."

She continued: "The woman is loyal, yet at the same time deeply fragile and destined for loneliness. Without parental support, she has taken on the role of breadwinner and carries every burden alone. The man leaned on her heavily — he wants a woman who feels like a mother, but he is not the right match for her. He harbors a quiet inferiority complex toward her and, without realizing it, falls into jealousy and envy. These two are better matched as friends than as lovers."

The shaman also made predictions about a new relationship for the woman.

"There is another person waiting by her side," she said. "A marriage fortune arrives at 37. When her body and mind are most worn out, a noble figure will appear like a prince on a white horse. The chances are high that she will marry the person she meets then. He will be someone with great generosity, able to complement every aspect of her personality — older than her, yet with the warmth of a younger brother."

Online users have been flocking to the video since the breakup news broke, with comments such as "I've come on a pilgrimage" and "She got every detail right."

Meanwhile, IU and Lee Jong-suk went public with their relationship in 2022 and officially acknowledged their breakup on Friday after four years together.

The two first crossed paths in 2012 as co-hosts of SBS music program "Inkigayo" and became a couple a decade later.

IU made her debut as a singer in 2008 and has released numerous hit songs, including "Good Day," "You and I" and "Through the Night." She has also built a career as an actor, appearing in "My Mister," "When Life Gives You Tangerines" and the upcoming "21st Century Daegunjubu."

Lee Jong-suk began his career as a model in 2005 and made his acting debut in 2010 with "Prosecutor Princess," going on to appear in productions including "Secret Garden," "I Can Hear Your Voice" and "Pinocchio." He has a Disney+ series, "The Second Marriage Empress," set for release.
