Singer Lee Hyori broke into tears and expressed deep longing after hearing the late Wheesung's song "Can't We" on a television program.

On Friday's episode of KBS 2TV's variety show "Happy Together," a vocal group called "Binkan Chaeuggi" — featuring Big Mama's Shin Yeon-a, Kim Hyo-su and Lee Hyeon-jeong — made an appearance. The group performed a string of ballads, including Wheesung's "Can't We" and Gemi's "When You Come Back."

After the performances, Lee Hyori described the artists behind the songs as "people who make me cry, tug at my heart and move me."

Lee drew particular attention for shedding tears just three seconds into Wheesung's "Can't We."

"It was a song that comforted me when I was hurting over a man," she said. "Every song brings back a memory tied to one person." She added that the performance "made me cry and moved my heart deeply."

Yoon Jong-shin, who was listening nearby, quipped that it was "when Hyori was going through an unstable period," drawing laughter from those around him.

Meanwhile, Wheesung was found unconscious in an apartment in Seoul's Gwangjin-gu in March last year. Police responded after receiving a report from his family and found him in cardiac arrest upon arriving at the scene.

Wheesung made his debut in 2002 with his first studio album "Like a Movie" and went on to win widespread affection with a string of hit songs, including "Can't We," "A Story I Can't Tell," "With Me," "Incurable Disease," "In a Year," "Love Is Delicious♡," "Insomnia," "I Thought About Marriage" and "A Heart-Aching Story."
