Korea Land and Housing Corp. President Lee Seong-hun visited the Yongin National Semiconductor Industrial Complex on Thursday to review the project's progress and called for an accelerated push to shorten the development timeline.

LH has designated the early completion of the Yongin national industrial complex as a priority task in support of the government's three major mega-projects for South Korea's great leap forward.

To meet the goal of breaking ground on the first semiconductor fabrication facility by 2028, LH plans to pursue a fast-track strategy — simultaneously wrapping up remaining land compensation procedures and preparing for construction. The corporation also plans to issue the site development contract this month under a construction management at-risk model and begin construction before the end of the year.

"This is both a test that proves the capabilities LH has built up and a critical undertaking to advance South Korea as a dominant industrial power with an overwhelming edge," Lee said. "We will mobilize every available means — including collaboration among project stakeholders and swift administrative processing — to concentrate all of LH's capabilities on getting the semiconductor production lines into operation."

Lee made the Seoripul public housing district in Seoul his first field visit after taking office on Wednesday.
