Mapo-gu will hold a series of "Dialogue with Residents" sessions at all 16 neighborhood community centers from Friday through July 20, with District Mayor Yoo Dong-gyun visiting each in turn.
The events mark the first large-scale community outreach initiative since the launch of the ninth elected term, signaling the start of what the district calls "communication-driven administration" — a commitment by the district mayor to hear residents' concerns directly and reflect them in policy.
This year, the sessions will also be livestreamed on Mapo-gu's official YouTube channel, Mapo Broadcasting, so residents who cannot attend in person can participate in real time.
About 100 residents from each neighborhood are expected to take part, and Yoo will engage in open, candid conversation with attendees and take in a wide range of opinions.
Each session will open with the neighborhood center director presenting key work plans for the ninth elected term, followed by a segment called "Our Neighborhood as Residents Envision It," in which residents describe their hopes and development priorities for their community.
A subsequent "Dialogue with the District Mayor" segment will give attendees and Yoo a chance to freely exchange views on pressing local issues, everyday inconveniences and proposals for community development, with the aim of working toward solutions together.
Mapo-gu plans to use the sessions as a springboard to deepen communication with residents, incorporate diverse voices from the ground into district policy and build a more trusted administration.
The events will be held across six days during the period. The series kicks off Friday with sessions in Gongdeok-dong and Seongsan 1-dong, continues Monday with Seogang-dong, Yeonnam-dong and Seongsan 2-dong, Tuesday with Ahyeon-dong and Dohwa-dong, Wednesday with Daeheung-dong, Sinsu-dong and Yeomni-dong, and Thursday with Sangam-dong, Yonggang-dong and Hapjeong-dong, before wrapping up July 20 in Mangwon 1-dong, Mangwon 2-dong and Seogyo-dong.
"The solution to every problem that arises in running the district comes down to communication — first, second and always," Yoo said. "I will keep listening to what residents want, and I will show results."
