The Samunancheon children's water play facility in Dongsong, Cheorwon, has become a hit with families from Cheorwon-gun and the northern parts of Gangwon and Gyeonggi provinces after upgrading both safety and entertainment — hiring certified lifeguards through an open recruitment process and introducing a Super Mario water-gun character.
According to Cheorwon-gun, the facility — operated by residents of Dongsong-eup — opened June 27 and runs through Aug. 26, offering a safe and comfortable water-play environment that has quickly established itself as one of the county's signature summer destinations.
Attractions include themed events, bucket water bombs and slides that give the facility a theme-park feel.
Dongsong-eup (Mayor Jang Myeong-ok) conducted an open recruitment process before opening to hire safety personnel with professional experience in visitor safety guidance, hygiene management and emergency response.
The facility serves children and toddlers aged 24 months to 13 years and operates from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. It is closed every Monday and Tuesday for water-tank cleaning and equipment inspections.
To give visiting children extra-special memories, Dongsong-eup will hold two additional event sessions — from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. and from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. — on July 11, 18, 25 and 26, Aug. 1, 8, 9, 15 and 22.
This year's programming is especially geared toward group participation, featuring bubble or magic shows and family water-play recreational games designed to add to the fun.
