Group to deliver music, performance and message of hope

HD Art Center in Ulsan's Dong-gu district will host a concert by Harmonize — South Korea's first show choir group and a four-time gold medalist at the World Choir Games — on July 9 at 7:30 p.m. in the center's main hall.

Founded in 2013 under artistic director Oh Jang-seok, Harmonize blends a cappella, beatbox and rap with rich harmonies to create performances that blur the line between concert and musical.

The group is known for its dazzling stage presence and expressive precision. A video of an impromptu performance at a South African restaurant — a rendition of "The Lion King" — has racked up 26 million views on YouTube. That track record has earned the group spots at major national events, including Liberation Day and Hangul Day ceremonies, the Korea-Africa Summit and the G20 summit.

The Ulsan concert will feature 17 songs, including "This Is Me" from the film "The Greatest Showman," "Mamma Mia," "Dancing Queen" and "Go Min Jung-dok." Spanning pop, musical theater and K-pop, the program aims to deliver a message of hope.

The concert is open to elementary school students and older. Tickets are available through the HD Art Center website, Ticket Link, Naver and NOL.
