Daegu's Nam-gu district held an inauguration ceremony for its 27th district chief, Jo Jae-gu, on Tuesday at Daedeok Cultural Center's Dream Hall, under the slogan "Opening the Future Together! The Beginning of Nam-gu's Next 100 Years."

About 600 people attended, including National Assembly lawmaker Kim Ki-ung, heads of various institutions and organizations, local dignitaries and residents. The ceremony opened with the oath of office, followed by an inaugural address, a congratulatory performance and a commemorative photo session.

In his inaugural address, Jo outlined a vision to prepare Nam-gu for a new century, building on the achievements of the past eight years. He pledged to pursue field-centered governance rooted in communication with residents and to steadily advance policies for sustainable urban development.

"I will work together with residents to build a greater Nam-gu," Jo said. "The ninth directly elected term is an important starting point for opening Nam-gu's next 100 years, and I will bring together all our capabilities to make Nam-gu an even better place to live."
