Opening ceremony for the senior rest shelter

Jungnang-gu held an opening ceremony Monday for the Junghwa Rose Senior Rest Shelter, a new year-round leisure and relaxation facility for elderly residents of the district.

The shelter was established to promote senior welfare and expand dedicated rest spaces in the community. It is equipped with heating and cooling systems as well as baduk and chess sets, allowing visitors to use the facility comfortably in all seasons.

The shelter is open to all elderly residents of Jungnang-gu on a walk-in basis. Operating hours are 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. during the summer season (May through September) and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. during the winter season (October through April). Senior residents manage the facility themselves.

Jungnang-gu District Mayor Ryu Gyeong-gi, who attended the opening ceremony, said he was pleased that a space had been created where elderly residents could rest and enjoy leisure activities regardless of the season. "We will continue to expand spaces where seniors can stay safely and connect with one another," he said.
