Reinforced belt structure and 3D sipe technology applied
Hankook Tire & Technology announced Tuesday the domestic launch of the Vantra Transit, a tire designed exclusively for light trucks and vans.
Developed for commercial vehicle drivers who frequently operate under heavy loads for extended periods, the Vantra Transit uses the latest profile design technology to optimize the contact patch and distribute load evenly, suppressing irregular wear. The tire delivers approximately 15% better mileage performance than the company's existing products.
In addition, a fuel-efficient long-mileage EMC reduces rolling resistance by 7% versus predecessor products, improving fuel economy. The optimized EMC formulation secures both durability and cost efficiency, supporting more economical operation for commercial drivers.
The tire's structural design has also been reinforced for driving stability. Two reinforcing belts supporting the main steel belt, combined with an edge-folding structure, effectively suppress tire deformation and lateral movement, while 3D sipe technology maintains a stable contact patch. Wet-road grip improved 6% and dry-road handling improved 8% compared with the company's previous products.
The Vantra Transit demonstrated its capabilities through extreme real-vehicle testing at Hankook Technoring, Asia's largest tire test track. Tests with a vehicle carrying a one-ton load over rough gravel surfaces confirmed the tire's superior resistance to tread damage compared with the company's existing products.
The tire will be available in 22 sizes ranging from 12 to 20 inches.
Meanwhile, Hankook Tire & Technology has been expanding its global customer engagement through various initiatives, including sponsoring the 2026 London-Brighton EV Rally, the United Kingdom's largest electric vehicle festival.
