Incheon secures 3.82 billion won in state funding after winning Ministry of Land competition
Targeted at newlyweds and households with children aged 6 and under
Incheon will build a child-friendly specialized housing complex in Geomdan new town for newlyweds and families raising young children.
The city announced Tuesday that the AA7 block in Geomdan new town had been selected as the site for the child-friendly specialized housing project under the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's "2026 First-Half Specialized Housing Competition."
The project falls under a "locally proposed specialized housing" scheme, in which local governments submit proposals reflecting regional conditions and residential demand.
Incheon plans to designate 80 of the 1,006 units in the AA7 block's integrated public rental housing development as child-friendly specialized housing.
The units will target childless newlyweds and newlywed couples with children aged 6 and under. Alongside the residential space, a child-friendly platform offering childcare, education and community functions will also be built.
Winning the competition secured the city 3.82 billion won ($2.48 million) in state funding to build the child-friendly platform.
The funds will go toward creating childcare and education spaces for parents and children to use together, as well as community facilities to foster interaction among residents.
The development site will house an integrated public rental housing complex with two below-ground floors, 20 above-ground floors and eight buildings.
The project will proceed through a private developer competition and project plan approval process, with ground-breaking targeted for the second half of 2028 and completion and move-in set for 2031.
