The Damyang-gun Welfare Foundation announced Tuesday that the transition committee for the incoming Damyang-gun county chief donated 1.35 million won ($876) to support vulnerable residents ahead of the launch of the ninth directly elected county administration.
The donation was intended to mark the start of the new county government and to deliver hope to marginalized neighbors. A total of 25 people, including transition and advisory committee members, participated voluntarily, adding to the significance of the gesture.
Transition committee chair Cha Sang-jun said it was meaningful that members had come together to offer even modest help to those in need at the moment of opening a new chapter for Damyang. "The incoming ninth elected Damyang county administration will also do its utmost to build a welfare community where everyone is happy and no neighbor is left behind," he added.
Foundation chair Lee Jeong-ok expressed deep gratitude for the act of giving, saying the donated funds would be carefully delivered to those in urgent need to help close gaps in welfare coverage and spread a culture of sharing throughout the community.
