Capital gains from trading fully exempt from dividend income tax
NH NongHyup Bank announced Tuesday it is launching a new discretionary money trust, the "NH KRX Gold Chaeum Trust (Physical Type)," allowing customers to invest in the Korea Exchange gold spot market through the bank.
The product is operated through on-exchange transactions in the Korea Exchange gold spot market, making capital gains from trading fully exempt from dividend income tax under applicable law. It is also excluded from the comprehensive financial income tax and exempt from capital gains tax, maximizing tax benefits for investors.
The product uses physical gold held in custody at the Korea Securities Depository as its underlying asset, securing the stability and transparency of transactions. Trades can be executed at real-time market prices during trading hours, allowing investors to respond quickly to market movements. As with stock trading, KRX gold spot investments can be bought and sold in real time via a smartphone app from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Previously, retail investors who wanted to invest directly in the KRX gold market had to open a separate brokerage account. The new product allows customers to start investing in gold more easily at bank branches, with access to professional asset management consultation.
"The NH KRX Gold Chaeum Trust (Physical Type) is a differentiated asset management product that pursues both inflation hedging and tax savings," a bank official said. "We expect it to offer a new investment alternative not only for high-net-worth and retired customers, but also for those seeking stable alternative investment assets."
