A lighthouse photo exhibition marking World Lighthouse Day will be held July 1–7 at the Hallyeohaesang National Park Odongdo visitor center in Yeosu.
The Yeosu Regional Office of Oceans and Fisheries said the exhibition was organized to give the public a chance to appreciate the aesthetic and cultural value of lighthouses on the occasion of World Lighthouse Day, observed July 1.
The works on display were selected through a public competition and will be exhibited at the Odongdo Lighthouse visitor center.
During the exhibition, visitors can take part in events including writing photo reviews and guessing lighthouse names. Participants will receive small commemorative gifts such as a DIY-decorating tumbler and a hand fan featuring lighthouse designs.
"We plan to inform the public that lighthouses are not merely tourism or scenic facilities, but vital navigational aids that help ensure safe voyages by confirming vessel positions, guiding shipping routes and marking hazardous zones," an official from the Yeosu office said.
The exhibition is open to all visitors to the Odongdo Lighthouse visitor center, except on Mondays, when the facility is closed.
