BMW Group Korea announced Tuesday it will conduct a free electric vehicle safety inspection campaign covering all battery electric BMW and MINI vehicles operated in South Korea from July 1 through Dec. 31.

The company said the campaign was designed to give BMW and MINI electric vehicle customers greater peace of mind by proactively inspecting key components to prevent EV fires and safety incidents before they occur.

The campaign covers all approximately 35,000 battery electric BMW and MINI vehicles sold in South Korea to date, with no restriction on when a vehicle was manufactured. Customers wishing to have their vehicle inspected can make a reservation through the My BMW or MINI app, or at any authorized BMW or MINI service center nationwide, and receive the safety inspection free of charge.

Electric vehicles brought in during the campaign period will receive focused inspections of core components, including the high-voltage battery and battery-related parts, high-voltage cables, and the vehicle cooling system including coolant. Basic checks of tire condition and tire pressure will also be carried out.

Meanwhile, BMW Group Korea said it is concentrating its efforts on infrastructure investment to drive broader growth of the domestic EV ecosystem, beyond simply selling electrification models.

On Sunday, the company completed the installation of South Korea's first public 400-kilowatt ultra-fast chargers — four units in total, with two at the BMW Charging Hub Lounge near Seoul Station and two at the BMW Driving Center on Yeongjongdo in Incheon.

As of December 2025, BMW Group Korea had completed the installation of 3,030 EV chargers nationwide, the largest cumulative total among imported vehicle brands in South Korea. The company plans to secure a total of 4,000 charging units by the end of this year.
