"Mapo Is Back! A Future We Build Together" — the official slogan for Mapo-gu's 9th elected term has been confirmed.
The transition committee for the 9th-term Mapo-gu district chief, chaired by Hwang In-guk, finalized the slogan on June 26, encapsulating the vision and commitments of the incoming administration.
The slogan reflects residents' hopes to see Mapo reawaken and reclaim its vitality.
The transition committee said it embedded in the slogan a commitment to achieve greater development and concrete results through AI-driven administrative reform, with the goal of making the 9th elected term one in which all residents feel happy today and look forward to tomorrow.
The keyword "future" featured prominently in submissions during the slogan contest, signaling wide aspirations for a better tomorrow — a factor the committee said played a key role in the final selection.
The slogan was chosen after an open contest held from June 16 to 19 for Mapo-gu residents and all district employees. A total of 251 entries were received, and the final decision was made after thoroughly reviewing common themes across submissions alongside input from the mayor-elect and the transition committee.
The new slogan takes effect July 1 and will serve as a guiding vision for Mapo-gu's development over the next four years.
"Looking carefully through the submitted slogans, I could feel the deep longing residents have for change and progress in Mapo," Mayor-elect Yoo Dong-gyun said. "I will carry the expectations of our residents in my heart and work to build a Mapo where today is fulfilling and tomorrow is something to look forward to."
