Actor Kim Sung-kyu made his first appearance in the SBS Friday-Saturday drama series "Agent Kim Reactivated," immediately commanding attention with a powerful screen presence.
Kim plays Park Gang-seong, a secretive North Korean spy sent to the South, and his debut drew immediate interest from viewers.
In the second episode, which aired Saturday, the story followed Kim Bu-jang (played by So Ji-sub) as he searched for his suddenly missing daughter Min-ji (played by Seo Su-min), while also depicting his past activities as a spy operating in North Korea.
Ri Eung-ryeong (played by Lee Jae-yong), director of North Korea's intelligence bureau for operations against the South, spots Kim Bu-jang in a viral assault video featuring Park Jin-cheol (played by Yoon Gyeong-ho) and moves to track him down. Ri summons Gang-seong — the younger brother of Park Yeong-gwang, known as "No. 66," once hailed as the finest warrior under the unit Ri founded — and orders him to eliminate Kim Bu-jang, whom he describes as a fake "No. 66" operating in South Korea.
Tasked with reclaiming his brother's number, Gang-seong accepts the mission with a resolute salute and quietly infiltrates the South, beginning his hunt for Kim Bu-jang. Armed with the address of the police station where Park Jin-cheol is being held, he heads straight there. Seong Han-su (played by Choi Dae-hoon), passing by as Gang-seong enters the station, senses an inexplicable unease but brushes it off — a moment that heightens anticipation about how their relationship will unfold.
Kim drew praise from his very first scene for the cold intensity he brought to the role. Viewers and critics noted that he subtly conveyed Gang-seong's layered emotions — the longing and anger tied to his brother's death, alongside an unwavering sense of mission.
"Agent Kim Reactivated," which premiered Friday, is a revenge action drama about the world's most ordinary father who becomes the world's most dangerous man to rescue his only daughter. The series surpassed a 15 percent viewership rating by its second episode, signaling a strong early audience response.
