Dongguk University WISE Campus held the first-semester 2026 Dongguk Scholarship Foundation ceremony June 26 at the campus's Centennial Memorial Hall in Gyeongju.
The Dongguk Scholarship Foundation scholarship is funded by the Dongguk University General Alumni Association and the Dongguk Scholarship Foundation.
Marking the university's 120th founding anniversary this year, the foundation selected 24 students who demonstrated strong academic performance despite financial hardship, awarding each 1 million won ($647) for a total of 24 million won. The scholarships support the university's founding ideals and the cultivation of Buddhist talent.
Moon Sun-bae, chairman of the Dongguk Scholarship Foundation and president of the General Alumni Association, said he hoped recipients would "take to heart the warm wishes of sunbae who want to give wings to your dreams, and boldly pursue your future."
Ryu Wan-ha, president of Dongguk University WISE Campus, said the university "is advancing as a glocal talent-development institution through student-centered educational innovation, including AI-based education and the strengthening of global competencies." He added that he hoped students would "use this meaningful scholarship from your sunbae as a springboard to go out into society, bring honor to your alma mater, and grow into individuals who contribute to the world."
