The 2026 North America World Cup has set an all-time scoring record, with 177 goals scored across the tournament so far.

A total of 177 goals have been scored since the tournament kicked off June 11, according to Fox Sports and other media outlets Thursday (local time).

The previous record was 172 goals, set at the 2022 Qatar World Cup.

The record fell during a Group D third-round match between the United States and Turkey at Los Angeles Stadium.

Austin Trusty of the United States scored in the third minute of the first half, netting the tournament's 173rd goal. Four more goals followed, extending the new mark further.

Thursday's Group D, E and F matches marked the 60th game of the tournament. The expanded 48-nation competition will feature a total of 104 matches.

The previous record at the Qatar World Cup was set across 64 matches, producing 172 goals at an average of 2.69 per game.

This tournament is averaging 2.88 goals per game, surpassing the rate of the previous edition.

With 44 matches still remaining, the record-breaking goal tally is expected to climb further.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino wrote on social media that "a new record has been set in World Cup history," adding that "this World Cup will be unforgettable."

"Congratulations to all the players who have scored," he said. "I look forward to even more goals being scored all the way to the final at New York New Jersey Stadium on July 19."
