Rapper Bewhy has drawn attention for posting a message about the South Korean national flag shortly after Prime Minister Kim Min-seok sparked controversy over an upside-down Taegukgi pin.

On Wednesday, Bewhy posted an image of the Taegukgi on his Instagram along with the message: "Don't hang the Taegukgi upside down."

The post came shortly after Kim was photographed wearing a Taegukgi lapel pin upside down during a meeting at Tsinghua University in Beijing on Monday. Bewhy did not name any individual or event directly, but the timing has prompted widespread speculation online.

People Power Party floor spokesperson Choi Eun-seok criticized the incident on Tuesday, calling it "a national embarrassment" that the prime minister had been seen wearing the national flag upside down at an official overseas engagement. "This is the Republic of Korea turned upside down on the prime minister's chest," Choi said.

Bewhy has previously spoken out on social issues, most recently appearing on the YouTube channel "Beautiful Nerd" to share his views on the National Election Commission's handling of a ballot shortage during the June 3 local elections.

Bewhy made his debut in 2014 with the single "Waltz" and rose to prominence by winning Mnet's "Show Me the Money 5."
