Large-print edition expands page size by 1.6 times for easier reading; copies to be placed at senior centers and welfare facilities across the district
Seoul's Gangdong-gu will begin distributing a large-print edition of its monthly newsletter, "Gangdong-gu Sosik," starting with the July issue, publishing it alongside the standard edition on the 25th of each month.
The district publishes 151,000 copies of the newsletter each month, delivering information on key district policies, projects, and resident lifestyle topics including welfare, culture, health and education.
The large-print edition was created so that elderly residents and those with poor eyesight can more comfortably access district news. The new format expands the page size by approximately 1.6 times compared to the standard edition, enlarging both text and photos while carrying the same content.
Some 650 copies will be produced each month and placed at welfare facilities including senior centers, the Gangdong Senior Culture Center and community welfare centers. Any visiting resident may read them freely.
The district said it hopes the large-print edition will improve accessibility for residents who previously struggled with small text, and allow district news to reach a wider audience more effectively. It also plans to review expanding distribution to additional public facilities based on usage data and resident demand.
"We have prepared the large-print newsletter so that residents who found the small text difficult to read can access district news more comfortably," Gangdong-gu District Mayor Lee Su-hee said. "We will continue to find diverse ways to communicate at residents' level and deliver the information they need in an easier and more convenient manner."
